This exquisite island is home to white pristine beaches, shelling, nature trails for hiking, and warm Gulf water inviting you in for swimming and snorkeling. The beautiful Island Key supplies the Tampa Bay area with interesting history and vivid beauty.

The Egmont Key lighthouse, the old soldier cemetery, and the ruins of old Fort Dade give you a sense of being in a different era.

Things To Do At Egmont Key

You may want to picnic in the soft gentle sea breeze under swaying palm trees or maybe just relax and sunbathe while the kids build sand castles nearby. You can hike through the Spanish-American War forts, explore around the Egmont Key lighthouse, go shelling, look for megladon shark’s teeth, and snorkel  from the shoreline. You can snorkel for up to 2 hours on Your trip!

History Of Egmont Key

Egmont Key has a rich military history dating back to the 1800’s . You may follow the nature trails to find and explore the two remaining forts from the Spanish / American war era, visit the old solider cemetery, the Egmont Key lighthouse and the many other historic structures on the island. Egmont Key is a Florida state park and a wild life refuge providing a safe home to many Florida native birds, gopher turtles, and box turtles. The island is kept in immaculate shape by the rangers and volunteers.
